New Features

Sound Package Part
The Sound Package Part tool, in conjunction with Noise Control Treatment, simplifies representing a physical sound package and its parts and applying the information to subsystems. Use the sound package to gain an overall view of the area's coverage percentage as well as the direction and location of the sound package part on all subsystems applied to a single piece.
Advanced Material Formulations for Sound Package Part
Two advanced material formulations have been added under Noise Control Treatment: perforated and rigid. These materials help you simulate the acoustic materials closer to real-world scenarios. Perforations can be defined by either single porosity or double porosity.
The perforations in single-porosity materials make them behave like porous layers, allowing you to model them as equivalent fluids using the Johnson–Allard approach with an effective tortuosity, which depends on the surrounding media. For double-porosity materials, homogenization techniques are used to estimate their equivalent resistivity, porosity, and tortuosity, enabling their modeling as porous media with two interacting pore networks.
The resistive layer is a rigid, thin layer, which is generally defined on top of the porous layer, and can be defined by flow resistivity and density.
Automatic Cavity Creation
Creating acoustic spaces in SEA can be time-consuming for both an external or internal cavity. Use the new Cavity tool to create cavities using the volume approach for both internal and external acoustic spaces. Data input is based on the volume defined in each plane. Graphical manipulators aid data selection.
Transmission Loss Tool
Use the Transmission Loss tool to quickly select structural subsystems and calculate transmission loss, considering the isolated subsystems along with any sound package part applied to the subsystem.

Enhancements

The following enhancements have been added to aid the graphical visualization of SEA entities along edges:
Graphical Visualization
  • The graphical visualization of SEA entities has been improved by adding colored edges to quickly identify the entity it belongs to.
  • Excitation now supports applied loads on structural junctions.
  • The Find attached option now supports junctions. Right-click to identify subsystems attached to junctions.
Tools
  • Edit now supports a split/merge of acoustic spaces.
  • Auto connect now supports 1D junctions.

Resolved Issues

  • Improved graphical selection of a subsystem during contouring.
  • Improved subsystem selection for larger models.

Altair SEAM 2025 Release Notes

Highlights

  • Independent graphics behavior for SEA entities.

New Features

Independent Graphics Behavior for SEA Entity Files
A new feature has been added for independent visualization for all SEA Entities: Subsystems, Junctions, NCTs, and Excitations. With this feature, the selection and handling of SEA entities is comparable to FEA entities, which improves the usability of the SEA entities.

Enhancements

Excitation Icons
New icons have been added.

Resolved Issues

  • Normal visualization of SEA entities.
  • Saving Stiffness Multiplier OUT files.
