The following section explains the various simulation parameters that are used when setting up a thermal simulation using ultraFluidX. These parameters are included in the standard sections of the solver deck as used for non-thermal simulations, but are listed here separately for clarity.

  - Overview
    ultraFluidX is a simulation tool for the prediction of the aerodynamic properties of passenger and heavy-duty vehicles, as well as for the evaluation of building and environmental aerodynamics.

    The following section explains the various simulation parameters that are used when setting up a thermal simulation using ultraFluidX. These parameters are included in the standard sections of the solver deck as used for non-thermal simulations, but are listed here separately for clarity.
    - <simulation>
      For thermal simulations, the <simulation> category contains additional parameters describing thermal method, thermal wall model, initialization of temperature field, setup of gravity, surface mesh and the fluid material.
    - <boundary_conditions>
      Each instance of a boundary condition (including the wind tunnel sides, inlet and outlet, wall instances) requires a thermal boundary condition to be added.

      The <output> category specifies the main parameters for various types of simulation output.
  - Expert Parameters
    Additional expert parameters can be used to fine-tune simulations.
  - Post-Processing Tools
    For certain aeroacoustics applications, such as fan noise, HVAC noise and train community noise, you need to evaluate flow-induced noise levels at microphones located far away from the turbulent regions simulated in ultraFluidX.

<output>

The <output> category specifies the main parameters for various types of simulation output.

<output> - <general>

Thermal simulation inherits from all parameters in the output section of the non-thermal simulation. There are additional parameters for thermal:

<avg_start_coarsest_iteration_thermal>: Specifies after which coarsest iteration the continuous averaging of thermal variables. If not specified, the information from <avg_start_coarsest_iteration> will be used.
<avg_window_size_thermal>: Specifies the number of consecutive coarsest iterations that will be used for window averaging of thermal variables. This value should be a factor of <output_frequency>. If not specified, the information from <avg_window_size> will be used.

Output variables can include the variables listed in the table.

Note: If <thermal_method> is set to off then thermal outputs will be set to false as no data is available. Default thermal variables unless you enter a different value in xml.
