Sketching
Create and edit a 2D sketch curve. A sketch curve is any "wire" entity such as a line, rectangle, circle, or arc.
Curves
Create and edit 3D curves by extending, rebuilding, intersecting, splitting, and projecting the shapes.
Surfaces
Create and edit 3D surfaces and solids by creating primitives or editing existing curves and surfaces.
- Primitives
  Create the basic shape of a 3D surface.
- Surfacing
  Perform an operation on existing curves or surfaces to create a new 3D surface or solid.
  - Extrude
    Extrude a curve to create a 3D surface, or extrude a surface to create a solid. You can perform the same extrusion on multiple objects at a time.
  - Revolve
    Rotate a curve or 2D surface around an axis to create a 3D surface. You perform the same revolve on multiple objects at a time.
  - FillPath
    Fill one or more closed curves to create a 3D surface. The curves can be sketch curves or a planar set of curves.
  - Loft
    Create a 3D surface by fitting it through two or more profile curves. You can constrain the shape using rails.
  - Sweep
    Sweep one or more curves along an extrusion path to create a 3D surface.
  - Rail Sweep
    Sweep one or more curves along rails to create a 3D surface. This tool is a variation of the Sweep tool that uses two rails rather than one extrusion path.
  - Patch
    Fill a closed area, defined by boundary curves or surface edges, to create a 3D surface. The new surface maintains tangent continuity with adjacent surfaces.
- NURBS Surface Editing
  Directly edit the geometry of a NURBS surface by performing various operations such as moving, adding, and removing points; changing the order in the U or V direction; adding weight; and removing trimming curves.
PolyNURBS
Create polygonal surfaces that can easily be converted into NURBS surfaces.
Modify
Create new objects by manipulating and modifying source objects.
Direct
Quickly modify objects that are not a part of Construction History.
Deform
Deform one or more objects with respect to an axis.
Analysis
Analyze curves and surfaces, import simulation data, or access the Design Table and Variable Manager.
Dimensions
Dimension a line, edge, bounding box, angle, and radius/diameter in order to create objects which must fit predefined dimensions.
Drawing
Create detailed 2D drawings of the selected parts of a complex 3D model from multiple perspectives.
Rendering
Adjust the materials, environment, and properties of objects in the scene to create a photorealistic image.
Animation
In Inspire Studio you can animate an object or group and the camera. There are two methods of animation: key frame animation and path animation.

Patch

Fill a closed area, defined by boundary curves or surface edges, to create a 3D surface. The new surface maintains tangent continuity with adjacent surfaces.

If the area you want to patch is open, you can use the Blend tool to close it.

On the ribbon, click the Surfaces tab.
Click the Patch icon.
Click the boundary curves or surface edges, and then right-click to confirm.
- To simultaneously select adjacent edges, hold down Shift while clicking.
- To select a single curve or edge when the two are tangent to each other, hold down Alt while clicking.
Optional: Modify the shape of the patch using internal profile curves.
1. In the guide bar, click Internal curves.
2. Click the internal profile curves, and then right-click to confirm.
  Note: The internal profile curves must intersect the boundary curves or surface edges selected in the previous step. If there are multiple internal profile curves, they should not intersect each other.
Optional: Define the continuity.
In the guide bar, select one of the following options:
- Positional: Connect the patch surface without tangency to the surface edge.
- Surface Tangency (G1): Fill the hole with a smooth, continuous patch without sharp edges at the seams.
- Surface curvature (G2): Fill the hole with a smooth, continuous patch without sharp edges at the seams. Also, the patch follows the curvature of the adjacent edges.
Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.
