License Utilization

License utilization guidance can referred in the Administrator's application, Managed License.

Customer Company Admin Access:
  • Customer Admins can monitor company-wide license utilization from the Altair One Dashboard.
  • Utilize the "Only show utilized license" and "Only my usage" filters to narrow the search results.
  • The HyperWorks feature provides information on actual and overall license utilization.
  • It helps understand the type of utilization, distinguishing between application (software checkout) and infrastructure (hardware checkout).
Monitor and Troubleshoot:

  • If there is any unexpected license checkout, administrators are advised to review the Jobs or Desktops app for any running workloads.

  • In case of a temporary discrepancy, they can delete the checkout, and unused units will be checked back in.

  • If there are faulty persistent checkouts despite no running workloads, administrators are encouraged to contact the support team for clarification.

  • Download license logs for troubleshooting the issue.

Temporary Discrepancy:
  • Temporary discrepancies between checkout and utilization may occur if an application is abruptly closed. Session units will be immediately checked in, but software application units will be checked in after a failed heartbeat, which could take up to 10-15 minutes.
License Details:
  • The license used on the Altair One platform will have the authorization host name: AltairOne.
  • License checkouts for appliances created by administrators will have a keyword format: pclm-<applianceid>.
