Altair HyperLife Crack Growth 2025.1 Release Notes

New Features

Import/Export of the Crack Growth Run Setup File (XML)
HyperLife Crack Growth supports import and export of the run setup file (XML). The feature is supported via File Options, enabling you to import the crack growth session pertaining to Material, Loadmap and Hotspot contexts.
Hotspot Context to Allow Stress Selection Along Crack Direction
Selection of required stress distribution along the crack direction is supported. The Hotspot contexts lists “Stress Distribution” with the options Auto, YY, ZZ and Absolute Maximum Principal. Based on local coordinate system defined at the hotspot, you can select the required stress along crack direction. The Hotspot XML is also enhanced to show selected stress distribution for batch-based evaluation.
Penny Shape Crack Type
Penny Shaped Crack type is added to the list of supported 1-dimensional weighted function crack types.

Enhancements

Updates to Crack Direction
The crack direction defined via the local coordinate system at the hotspot will always be the local X axis as compared to local Z axis in the previous versions. If a local coordinate system is not defined, for example if Crack Direction is set to Normal, the crack direction will be in local X and stress distribution is along the XZ plane. If Crack Direction is set to User Defined System, crack direction is along the local X and stress extracted along crack direction is as per the stress option selected in Stress Distribution. The changes are in accordance with the images highlighted in the Hotspot context for the selected crack type.
