Create Frequency and Buckling Responses
Use the Frequency/Buckling tool to create modal frequency and buckling responses.
For frequency responses, a Modal Assurance Criteria (MAC) is created in the background to ensure that the desired mode is evaluated in each run in the exploration. For buckling responses, a (MAC) is not created. The mode shape is not tracked and just the mode number that is specified is reported.
Restriction: Frequency and buckling responses are only
supported for the OptiStruct profile.
-
From the Design Explorer ribbon, click the Frequency/Buckling tool.
Figure 1.
- From the guide bar, select Frequency or Buckling.
-
Click
to create the response.
- From the microdialog, enter the number of the desired mode.
-
Make any additional modifications to the created response in the microdialog.
By default, the nominal run result (.h3d file) is used as the reference for mode tracking comparison. Optionally, a reference file of your choice can be selected using the Location field in the microdialog.
Tip: While creating a frequency response, you clickin the microdialog to visualize the desired mode with a valid reference file selected. Click
to open an animation window where you can select the desired load case and mode and animate the mode shape to assist in mode selection. Selections will be automatically set in the microdialog.
-
In the microdialog, select
Objective or Constraint to
simultaneously create one.
Note: You can continue to define the constraint in the microdialog.
