Manage Material Data

This chapter guides you how to launch and use the Authoring Tools in AMDC. It explains where to find these tools on the viewer page and the permissions you need to access them.

Accessing Authoring Tools

You will see which tools you can use based on your role and learn how to start managing and editing material data easily.

  1. Click the launcher button at the top left corner of the viewer page.

  2. Click Content Management Tools from the Manage Content menu.

    Note: You need the required permissions to see Content Management Tools in your profile. Contact your organization Admin if you don’t have access.

Functions of Authoring Tools

Data Edit: A tool to add, delete, and edit material data sets such as single-point properties (Density, Young’s Modulus, Poisson’s Ratio), multi-point properties (Stress-Strain plots), associated features, and documents. You can also publish/unpublish material, compare versions, and restore previous versions.

Catalog Edit: A tool to add, delete, edit, and organize material properties, plots, CAE card templates, and customize UI views. It has two sections:
  • Base Catalog: The master list of all material properties, plots, numerical models, material types, producers, providers, CAE cards, user roles, and permissions in AMDC.

  • Application Catalog: Is the AMDC front-end interface used to define and customize views on the main viewer page.

Provider Data Load and Import Materials: Use these tools to import new material data into AMDC via standard file formats like Excel or Radioss Law 36 card.
Note: Prefer the Import Materials tool for a simple, one-step import process.

Catalog Data Transfer: Use this tool to back up the base and application catalog. You can restore catalog data by importing the backup zip file.

Material Data Transfer: Use this tool to back up material data in the database. You can restore material data by importing the backup zip file.

User: A tool to create new AMDC user accounts, assign roles, and set permissions for features and material data access.

Software / Solver: Use this tool to tag materials for specific software or solvers based on rules in the General Application Catalog > CAE Model Tagging.
Note: Use this tool only if automatic tagging does not work correctly after material import.

Logs: This tool records all actions performed within the authoring tools, including date, time, and user information.
