Abaqus Interface
New Features
- Coupling Kinematics and Coupling Distributings Tools
- The Coupling Kinematics and Coupling Distributings tools have been added to the Model ribbon. Use these new tools to create a *COUPLING keyword with *KINEMATIC and *DISTRIBUTING keywords for a constraints entity.
- Auto Contact Tool Update
- A new feature has been added to the Auto Contact tool to extend the main surface by a layer or two. This ensures the main surface is always larger than the secondary surface.
- New Result File Reader Support
- New result file reader support has been added for Abaqus version 2025.
Enhancements
- The *PLASTIC keyword allows the RATE parameter to define multiple rate dependent plastic strain tables.
- The *BEAM SECTION keyword in property is enhanced to allow an offset via the *BEAM SECTION OFFSET keyword.
- The *MASS keyword in property is updated to not accept the material attribute.
- The TABLE entity can now be created from the Model Browser for the *DISTRIBUTION and *DISTRIBUTION TABLE keywords. Previously, it was a populated entity through the Material Orientation tool.
- The *BOUNDARY keyword now accepts the SUBMODEL parameter. If present in the input file, the SUBMODEL parameter is realized as an unsupported card.
- Review has been enhanced for MASS elements to show mass value. Review has also been enhanced for KINEMATIC COUPLING to show degrees of freedom (DOF).
- Performance of a set segment for show/hide/isolate has been enhanced.
Deprecated Features
Result file reader support for Abaqus version 2020 has been removed. Those who use Abaqus 2020 should use the ODB Upgrade tool to upgrade the result file to supported versions.
Resolved Issues
- *BEAM SECTION OFFSET now shows the correct offset graphically on the *BEAM GENERAL SECTION property.
- Beam element B31 no longer has a template issue with input files not being written properly.
- A crash issue upon deleting components and exporting a solver input file has been resolved.
- Review of a group entity no longer causes a segmentation error.
- The result file reader no longer has an issue reading CPRESS output for grouped contacts.
- A regression on solver conversion from Abaqus to Radioss for material data with plastic rate has been resolved.
